I don't know for sure what's wrong (but I'm nearly sure Mike Bayer
will follow up with a more competent advice ;-)
In the meantime, you might try to clear() or close() the session after
the rollback since the session state is indeed not rolled back (the
rollback affects the DB only while session is a short-living object
that you should throw away after the failure.)
