Hi! When using the configure script shipped in the tarball, everything works fine, but after rebuilding configure (i.e. running autoconf), @VERSION_NUMBER@ is apparently no longer substituted by configure, which breaks the compile. In fact, I can find no AC_SUBST statement regarding VERSION_NUMBER in configure.ac. There seems to be some mismatch; this currently keeps me from building and uploading 3.1.2 for Debian.
