In the list of types of device SQLite is used in, you can add voting machines.

"They found actual voter reg data from the 2008 election in a SQLite database,
plain text"

The (simplified) background is as follows. To keep the attendees of hacker
convention "DEF CON" amused, the organisers — completely legally — bought 30
voting machines of several different makes and models, and challenged hackers
to subvert them. Every one of them proved subject to hacking. One or more of
them seems to keep its voting records in a SQLite database on a CompactFlash
memory card.

Please note that it is not appropriate to discuss the politics of machine
voting on this list. Nor do we need to underline the horrible data leak
involved in selling voting machines without deleting the data from them. I’m
posting this here only for the SQLite connection.

Simon.
