I tested this and it crapped out in the memcpy, ie before it gets to the sqlite3_mprintf. Not to say there isn't a problem there too but I don't know the API details offhand so can't comment. I'd be surprised though; the zip file I used as input (no jpegs on that machine) has a zero at byte 5 and the hundred odd jpegs I looked at on this machine all had a zero at byte 4.
