Interesting story about this... My father name is Jose Cabrera, and he named me Jose Isaias Cabrera. My mother decided to call me Isaias to distinguish between us. All my life, in Dominican Republic, my papers were J. Isaias Cabrera. When I came into the United State, in 1979, the Immigration department would not let me be J. Isaias Cabrera. I had to change to Jose Isaias Cabrera because they wanted a full name. By the way, this is in 1979, which was much easier then than now. Their reasoning was that I could not have a J. for a name. Weird, huh? But I wanted in, so I said, whatever, give me the green card. :-)
