Actually the SQLite Database doesn't need to be encrypted it shouldn't be jailbroken or hacked into, or broken in any way. Also I am sure that an encryption algorithm inside the iPhone would cause long boot times, etc. and space issues since it already has limited space for the actual OS anyway. AT&T users have no access to the data on other phone user's phones so security is more or less not a problem.
