I love railroad diagrams, and these are particularly attractive. Nice!  
A few suggestions:


The diagrams are read most easily left to right; rolling to a new line  
greatly reduces the utility, IMO. Roughly 7% of the 'net is still  
using 800x600, and surely far less of tech savvy audience.

I suggest increasing the image width to at least 900px before  
wrapping, and possibly even suggest possibly never wrapping them  
(instead putting each in a scrollable section).


Also, it would be super nice if the sub-diagram sections in the images  
were hotlinked to that heading on the page. Yes, I'm actually  
suggesting 20th century image map technology.


And while I love the diagrams, I'm a little concerned about their  
accessibility, given that there's no alt text for them. I think  
they're a huge improvement over the text schema, but I'd like to  
ensure that the text-only is available somewhere.
