The speed of lookup will be very small if you have an INDEX which matches what the SELECT asks for. So if, for example your SELECT is SELECT colA, colB FROM myTable WHERE source='aaa' AND colA='BBBB' then the TABLE myTable should have an INDEX (perhaps the primary index) which is on the two columns source,colA For the number of records you quote, this will make the SELECT very fast.
