Yeah… perhaps not a "bug" per se, but definitively one of these SQLite 
"deathtrap"… scalar queries are meant to return one, and only one, value… it's 
not that helpful to pretend otherwise… ditto for these wacky 'group by' 
behaviors… oh, well… "Keep SQLite Weird" as they say in Austin...
