I just compiled the JDBC driver from http://www.ch-werner.de/javasqlite/index.html with the SQLite 3.6.1 amalgamtion source code with the Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition C-Compiler (using /Ox /Ot switches) and my queries are typically 20% faster with this driver.
