It seems MySQLdb 1.2.1 started to use unicode (1.2.0 didn't do this).
You need to find more information on how to specify the charset for
MySQLdb.
I've downgrade MySQLdb and it fixed my problem, I will try to fix
MySQLdb 1.2.1 another time, I'm migrating my server today and now I
have anything but time :)
