Any test that tests the patch, that shows what problems the patch fixes,
or what new functionality the patch adds. A test that fails before applying
the patch and works after. Something like this...

It wasn't. The support for Python 2.2 has been *declared* obsolete -
only declared, and only in the trunk. The support will continue until
release 0.9 and only after it the support for Python 2.2 will really be
dropped from the trunk.
