I've successfully built a few Pylons apps with sqlobject.  One slightly
unusual thing I did was to create a middleware that would catch run each
entire request in a transaction.  On error, it would roll back the
transaction and, if the error was possibly recoverable, retry it.  This
allowed me to transparently handle things like checking to see if a
username was available, then creating the user if so without worrying
about race conditions.
