The reason for a web-UI is obvious for many reasons . The LMS server in many cases does not have screen and keyboard and is accessed from another machine via the web browser .
And even if the server runs on computer with keyboard and monitor , you migh want to control with another computer on your network . Wonder if not a Windows tablet would run the web-UI fine ? Safari for iOS is not that good at it , it is a bit quirky . With only a volunteer workforce designing several new UI is a bit unrealistic :) Dragging from windows explorer won't work from another computer ... The server needs some artist, album menus etc hence its database . But you can't get a useful interface if you want to disregard all tagging and sorting efforts you need to do , it won't work . Some more effort on the music folder menu is perhaps a good way , but there will still be a need to appoint a music folder . Otherwise it would just be a mess . -------------------------------------------------------------------- Main hifi: Touch + CIA PS +MeridianG68J MeridianHD621 MeridianG98DH 2 x MeridianDSP5200 MeridianDSP5200HC 2 xMeridianDSP3100 +Rel Stadium 3 sub.
