Thanks for the reply Michael, update for you:-
Seeing the Library folder listed below within terminal caused me to
wonder why I could not see it in finder - 
It was 'hidden' for whatever reason, I had to tick the box to 'show
library'
Within the folder was indeed a /logs/squeezebox folder containing 4 log
files, the newly created squeezebox*.* folder does not contain any
files.
The server issue looks to be resolved (imho), the server is running
(having opted for auto start at system boot), 
Not playing the tracks i believe, is down to some sort of
'security/firewall' issue.
