LMS service running again now... Just in case any should encounter the same problem here is what I did (besides the things I mentioned in the original post):
1) I renamed the file "plugin-data.yaml" to "_plugin-data.yaml". File was recreated automatically when trying to start LMS. I still couldn't start LMS though. 2) Tried starting LMS in safe mode via LMS control panel and now got a new error in the server.log: [16-02-12 19:27:49.0992] Slim::Utils::Misc::msg (1311) Warning: [19:27:49.0990] can't create C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\strings.8664.bin: Permission denied at /<C:\PROGRA~2\SQUEEZ~1\server\SQUEEZ~3.EXE>Slim/Utils/Strings.pm line 193 3) I renamed the file "strings.8664.bin" til "_strings.8664.bin". File was recreated automatically when trying to start LMS in safe mode. 4) Started LMS in "normal" mode without error. \o/ Along the way I also changed read-only permission on folder "C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache". But this didn't help getting past the original error, so I don't think it made any difference.
