I have always been baffled by the reported number of Artists. On my system I see "1478 albums with 28162 songs by 1958 artists". The album and 'song' counts are correct, but the artist count is very odd.
I have counted the number of 'contributors' for each role in the LMS database, and get: Artists: 2236 Album Artists: 675 Composers: 637 Conductors: 399 Bands: 540 Now it's true that many contributors have more than one role. So if I just count the number of unique contributor names overall I get 3437. None of these totals are anywhere close to that which LMS reports when it quotes 1958. Is there some constraint on counting just one 'artist' per track (many of mine have many artists). I'm well aware this doesn't matter in the scheme of things, but it has puzzled me for ages. Does anyone understand it? LMS 7.9 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 14.04, FLACs 16->24 bit, 44.1->192kbps. LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to 405/2 amp & ESLs) & Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers. Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC renderers. Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones. Wireless Xubuntu 15.10 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with Squeeze-Commander/BubbleUPnP controls LMS/Minimserver.
