To give you an idea - my system needs 1 1/2 hours to do a full scan on 5.000 Albums. All Covers are embedded and sized to 600x600 by 72 px - so the artwork preparation isnt a (very) big deal.
If you have some settings to use mysqueezebox to get coverart - you need more time. I really have no clue about lms on mac OS-X anymore but i found on my (debian) based setup that the webgui didnt wrote everything into the page on the webgui. That depends on (as far as i remember) to the some settings (how many elements per site) so "my" webgui seems to told me nothing is happen unless its finished or i take a look at the logfile (in the gui or the file itself) but - my setup has a own Folder for each Initials and that causes a lot of > Get deleted tracks count > Get new tracks count > Get changed tracks count > Removing deleted audio files > Scanning new audio files > Rescanning changed audio files that fills the lines... So i dont know if thats the case on your setup aswell but you should take a look at both the logfiles - cause the logfiles are filled everytime may its the same on the controlpanel as my lms webgui.
