Your varius bridge plugins can add something to the mix how often is it needed to transcode to another format to something as unfortunate as WAV/PCM I don't know how many wav streams that could fit in parallel .
That's definitely something not to be neglected.
There are some old tread when some definitely had >25 squeezeboxes running , but that where real hardware squeezeboxes .
I don't remember the details. But we did run some tests many years back. But I thought the server at the time (which must have been much lower powered than yours) did sync something in the three digit number of players. But that was just hardware Squeezeboxen.
And I remember a photo of a "wall of sound" built from Radios. Just from the picture in my head that must have been more than your 25 players.
