Thanks DJanGo. It's true I can get the mp3 files to play by manually altering the RSS.
I have tried a few opensource and commercial podcast receivers and they don't have any problem with the audioboom RSS files and their very long https links to the mp3 files. My current workaround is to use a podcast receiver (gPodder) to download the mp3 files somewhere that LMS can find them.
