My system is set up to do a routine check for new files scan every night (it's a dedicated 24/7 server), but occasionally I will have need for a forced scan. Like yesterday, I was setting up new playlists and needed LMS to see the new ones.
When I forced the "find new files" scan the system appeared to go into a full re-scan, or something close to it. It took the better part of an hour to do the scan. Later, when I forced another scan because of more playlist development, things were back to normal and the rescan took under five minutes. What might have triggered the full scan in the first place? Every once in a while I do force a full rescan, every couple of months or so, or if I do some restructuring of my music file system. So it's not like it's been years since a full scan, and there had been no changes in the file structure. R.
