Since i am not perl guy but can handle other languages i first thought - well lets get a starting point / proof of concept. Like build a playlist / virtual library from these "tagged" files and shuffle that.
That's totally fine. I'd just suggest whatever language you use, don't try to bother with SQL. You'll be lost trying to answer the question why results are different from LMS' own. Just use the CLI to query LMS data. It'll return the rating if you want (the "R"ating tag - see the songinfo command).
