I use SB player and Squeeze CTRL, which is well worth the price. The sound is comparable to a standard kitchen radio. For in a kitchen while cooking etc. it'll do the job - this is what I bought it for. But it is by no means a hi end device. It should be cheaper now, I wonder why it is still so expensive. Android 4 is definitely a downside to it. One more thing that is a let down is that, being an android device, it is not really meant to be switched off. But leaving it switched on all the time makes for an empty battery quite often, while having it plugged in is not what you want with a portable device or with a device you use in the kitchen (and hence for 1-2 hours max per day) only. I don't know about the other model but it seems to be an upgrade to another product line.
