I don't know of a specific plugin that would work as you are requesting but I know there was one specifically for Denon receivers that offered some control of the receiver from LMS. I believe that it was called Denon Serial Plugin so if you are using a Denon AVR you may wish to google around for it and maybe someone can help you with that. I am able to control the volume for my Pioneer Elite SC-95 by using Airplay and Phillippe's airplaybridge plugin. That plugin turns my AVR into a "squeezebox" and I am able to control the volume through LMS with the Ipeng app on my iphone. I am not familiar with how the ir blaster plugin works but I believe you need original squeezebox hardware to use it. Good luck and let us know if you figure something out.
