I noticed a setting to disable cross fade between tracks at different sample rates (in Player Settings under audio tab) that I never noticed before. I had had it set at "no" hopefully it will now take care of the issue. I realize now that because I am now using "Don't Stop the Music" I am now getting mixes of both Flac and MP3s which I didn't get before. This probably explains why only recently did I notice the static bursts.
