Many thanks to both of you for helping me. 
Logging on directly to SN is no problem. Please also recall that I've
been ok using LMS in docker for almost a year. This began after the most
recent update of LMS. I'm not thereby saying that I think there is
something wrong with Michael's work. For me, this is just the point in
time that I recall. I always also update and upgrade the container
simultaneously, so there may be a combination of events. 
I'll try Michael's log suggestions today and get back. 

Oh, and Kevin - tanks for your effort to try to solve the docker export
/ import issue. I'm not sure how smart it is to maintain two such
different subjects in the same thread. Maybe we should move that issue
to the QNAP Forum? I'm sure there are other that will benefit from your
findings....
