Rebooting the server, doing a firmware update on the wireless bridge,
and power cycling the bridge and transporter didn't fix it.

After reinstalling LMS (latest 7.8.1 nightly, dated 2017-02-22) and
power cycling the router the problem had gone and the transporter was
outputting audio normally once again (or, more accurately, it was
outputting digits to my hi-fi's DAC, as I don't use the analogue outputs
any more).

Mnyb, yes I know I should really get around to setting up a VPN for
access to my music across the Internet. The main reason for not doing
it (after laziness) is that it would complicate access from the homes of
friends and family who also own Squeezeboxes. So far I haven't had any
problems with hackers making mischief. Needing a username and a long
password seems to be keeping them out. Changing the ports from the
defaults might increase security a bit more. Are there known
vulnerabilities in LMS which could be exploited even without knowing the
login details?
