Hi, I also considered it as a strange (is there a technical reason why the DAC should not "downwards" switch?) DAC issue...do you physically switch the DAC off? Personally I have to switch off the player within the LMS interface. This still gives me some doubt that it could be a software problem and not an hardware issue.
