I had this problem (media scan terminated unexpectedly), and had a good read of this thread.
I searched through recent additions to my music, and found a folder with a .mov file as well as numerous .jpgs files (it was a download). I deleted the .mov and all the extra .jpgs and then cleared the cache folder from the Advanced tab in Control Panel. I then ran the complete scan, and it worked fine. I'm using 7.7.2 SlimServer: 7.4 Amp: Rega Mira (Salon) / Creek 4040 (Pallier) / Denon System. Speakers: JMLAB Chorus (Salon) / Scandyna MiniPods (Pallier) / Old Missions.
