Now that 7.9 is officially released, I see that there are now nightly builds of 7.9.1. I was just wondering what the status of this is likely to be? Are there likely to be big, potentially disruptive, changes to it?
No, I've outlined this elsewhere: 7.9.1 will be mostly bug fixes only. Any major changes would go to whatever will be next (7.10, 8.0, NG, ...).
I'd been tracking the 7.9 nightlies months before the official release, and just wonder whether I should stick with the released 7.9 for a while, or continue to track 7.9.1?
If you're happy to get more than one update in three years, then you should be safe running 7.9.1 if you wish. There might be a flurry of bug fixes in the next weeks, as more people update to 7.9. But after that it'll hopefully become quite quiet.
