Like the answer you get when lost and asked for directions " I wouldn't have started from here if you want to go there" Sync has a history (slower networks, small player buffers, no network clock) and has been trapped by backward compatibility. IIRC there has been only one rewrite of the syncing mechanism and I think that had to work without changing slimproto.
