Once the scan is initiated it simply runs to completion - and does not need the iOS app or anything else to be connected to it. Try pointing a web browser to port 9000 on your RPi to see the LMS web interface - and click on Settings (bottom right) and then from there you can watch the scanner logs to see what is going on. You might need to increase the log level - but come back with more info to see if that is needed.
