Suggests fixing the tags anyway ? If I remember rigth these are only used in the abscense of tags any tags in the file ?
a use case may bee if you naively ripped to WAV with WMP and have untagged WAV files . Use this a stopgap solution while you convert to FLAC files ( or possibly ALAc) and adds better metadata to them Real tags willl give more metadata than this solution. And the use of a format with good and widespread tag support is better.
