Just to summarize the story: search just didn't work until one day the server collapsed as whole. Scan revealed 0 songs, the interface switched itself to classic. Reinstall did not help. Had to remove manually everything (with configuration :( ), then install as fresh. Now working fully again! So happy!
Just a remark to developers: please don't remove PowerPC compilation from LMS for Mac. It works very well on my mac mini G4.
