I had brought this up in a related thread a few years back and was told LMS should absolutely detect/update tag changes in the database.
Today I pulled up an album in the web GUI and decided to change the genre. I opened the album/files using Mp3tag, changed the genre tag, then ran a "Look for new and changed media files" scan. Some time after the scan finished, I went to the web GUI again and drilled down through Home> My Music > Genres, and the album was still listed under the old genre. I then deleted the genre tag altogether and performed another "Look for new..." scan. Same results. This time I drilled all the way down to "View Tags" on an individual track and saw that there was in fact no genre tag present, so it seems the database was not updated(?). Only after running a "Clear library and rescan everything" scan did the genre tag finally disappear from these files. I have since reproduced this a few times with different files. This is not a case of multiple ID tags in the files and the option in Mp3tag to "Preserve file modification time when saving tags" is unchecked. In subsequent forum searches, I found at least one post stating that the database will NOT update from tag changes unless a "Clear library and rescan everything" scan is performed. Does "Look for new..." ignore certain tags or is something else going on? Could library size have any bearing on this? Currently running LMS v7.9.1 / r1504317335 on a Win7 x64 machine. Thanks for reading. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ rdeckard's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=40772 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107944 _______________________________________________ Squeezecenter mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
