In terms of future hardware capability, I couldn't say. But it's not a massive outlay! Essentially the steps to setting up the Pi would be: - download piCorePlayer and burn the image to an SD card - stick the SD card into the Pi - connect the Pi via ethernet cable to your router (your NAS should also be connected via cable) - boot the Pi by powering it up - open the piCorePlayer web interface (I look for it's address using the connected devices list on my router's admin page) - it's worth looking through this before going further, particularly noting the four different views accessed by tabs at the bottom of the screen: Basic, Normal, Advanced, Beta You do most of the rest of the tweaking via the web interface - by clicking buttons on the web interface - expand the filesystem - install additional filesystems - install LMS - mount your NAS's music folder (this bit can be the most confusing - I can send you the settings I use for my QNAP) - configure LMS through its LMS web interface My Pi3 takes about 6 minutes to scan through a bit over 27,000 tracks There is some help available at http://picoreplayer.sourceforge.net/main_howto.shtml plus the extensive piCorePlayer threads in the Linux/Unix forum here.
