I'm running 7.9.1 and it goes down all the time now. 7.9.0 was rock solid but then an update to 7.9.0 came out within the last month or so and it took a nosedive on reliability. This is when the web interface changed.
LMS didn't get less reliable, but it's crashing because you exposed it to the internet. Now somebody decided to install the Gallery plugin and have it scan all of your drives, giving the attacker access to all your photos. And crashing LMS, because it's trying to scan folders it shouldn't scan.
Close port 9000 on your router, uninstall the Gallery plugin and you'll be fine.
