It sounds like players are acting as DLNA renderers and having nothing
to do with LMS - IIRC if xubuntu is actually streaming to LMS it will
appear as a single music source to LMS and I think vice vera.

You need to determine the role (if any) of LMS as LMS sees it so using
LMS GUI :
1. Do the players appear in the LMS WebGUI top RHS drop down box ?
2. What appears in the "synchronize" option in the same drop down box  ?
