I'm building something similar using a Raspberry Pi 3 B+. For now, I'm
just planning on installing LMS manually on top of Raspbian. I don't
currently plan on using the RPi as a player; if that changes I may look
at piCorePlayer or max2play. I'm planning on storing my music on a 2TB
external HDD, and using rsync to back the files up to another 2TB
external HDD connected to the same RPi. I know that doesn't give me
offsite backup, and I may try to figure that out later. One question I
have is which file system to use on the external drive. Currently i have
my LMS running on a 20yr old dell desktop, and the music is on an NTFS
formatted drive. I know that I will have to install ntfs-3g in order to
provide read/write access. I also need to be able to share the music
folder, as I will use a different computer for ripping a few more CDs,
and I will need to be able to add new downloads. I likely won't be using
the RPi for anything else, and there will be only one logon. Do I need
to use a native Linux filesystem (EXT3) or will NTFS work for what I'm
planning?
