Sorry for my confusion. I was picking "BBC" from Apps menu as it showed both Mp3 128kbs stream (which works, as do all the other radio stations) and aac-lc 32kbs stream. When I choose "BBC iPlayer" then "Listen Live" it only shows me a single Radio 3 icon, and I couldn't see any way of telling what the bitrate was.
