Running LMS on my Synology DS 718+ (with upgraded RAM) and hosting 33.669 titels on there. I have not had any issue with this setup so far and would not see any reason to highly recommend it IF you need NAS functionality for other things. If not a NAS might be a bit of a heavy weight solution. Friends of mine run a couple of pi systems and are happy with it too.
