I had to look into the /usr/share/squeezeboxserver/IR/Default.map file
indeed.
The command to pause is
curl -X POST -d
'{"id":0,"params":["68:5d:43:ea:28:60",["button","pause.single"]],"method":"slim.request"}'
http://localhost:9000/jsonrpc.js
the same will resume play.
I'll then configure my keyboard accordingly.
