For perl it replies "This is perl, v5.8.8 built for i486-linux-gnu-thread-multi" and for the package, last week I tried to install logitechmediaserver-7.9.2-1554450933-i386-readynas.bin and have dropped back to logitechmediaserver-7.9.1-1494667952-i386-readynas.bin. This has worked without problem since last year, until 10-days or so when the BBC started redirecting iPlayer to https. With respect to your comment on my post about BBC iPlayer, yes, I've had this NAS since 2008, the hardware has worked almost flawlessly, I had to replace one drive that failed, but no data loss, and I back it up to an identical NAS sat on the same LAN segment. I hadn't even heard about LMS until I found it on the ReadyNas and enabled it back in 2008. It's been an amazing experience and a fantastic piece of software. I've long expected the NAS would run out of memory, and have a replacement Windows server on order just for LMS. That said, I wanted to keep the LMS up to date so that when I migrate I can use the same build on both systems. Hence trying this upgrade again. To answer your questions above. Yes, thats the output of the cat command on the Readynas while running the 7.9.2 build. vi is great if you grew up using it and byte terminal. As a longtime IBM mainframe firware/software developer, I just can't. Even though I was part of the IBM design/development effort for our Unix System Services back in the early 90's I never really felt at home with it. I'm fine with bourne/bash shell commands.
