Cheers to you both - it looks like it was a network issue (funny how
most Squeeze issues usually come back to the network), after much
farting around with swapping homeplugs, a new WAP etc, etc I decided to
check an old Linlsys WAP which was also acting as a switch, and bingo, I
could not log onto the machine. The last time I did that was about 2
months ago, quite why it didn't occur to me to check it while testing
pretty much everything else in the house is a rather vexed
question:mad:.. But removing it from the ecosystem appears to have fixed
the issue.
