I press Start Server, it says starting, and then reverts to Start server
and says server is stopped. It used to work, but have not used it in a
while.
Please run the following from a terminal window:
/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane/Contents/server/slimserver.pl
What would that tell you?
How does one manually uninstall the server on a Mac? Where are the
logs? The server log button does nothing. The information pane is blank.
The Log folder actually might be the problem: we've seen cases where
that folder wasn't writable to the LMS user, thus LMS fails to start. If
that's the case for you, you can give this script a try:

Download, extract, run. It'll ask for admin permissions, as it'll have
to change permissions on some folders.
