It should be enough to change the modification date of the files and do a new and changed scan. Most taggers have an option to preserve the modification date or not. Since I like to preserve the original timestamp, I'm using a small script which simply adds one second to the modification date. IIRC, someone wrote something similar as an extension to a tagger.
