Dont scrap SB whatever you do! This is a MacOS issue almost certainly involving user file permissions but I think its fair to say that each MacOS upgrade introduces more such issues.
Why not get yourself a Pi and a USB drive? Copy your music to the USB drive. Stick piCorePlayer and LMS on the Pi and run LMS from there. Cheap and you dont then have to leave the Mac on all the time. Should also be future proof.
