Rather than modify stream.mp3 (which I feel maybe complicated) wouldn't it better to make a proper bridge player like the ones for unpn, Chromecast etc. - as there will eb the issues of communicating player/quality options. I suspect use the modified squeezelite source as a basis would be a better start.
