Ended up doing factory resets and all updates on all 4 squeezeboxes, uninstalled (again) LMS and cleaned registry, etc., reinstalled, updated firewall to allow LMS. 3 out of 4 work now.
After this headache, I'm thinking of getting a Raspberry and just hooking my external hard drive up to that.
