It's generally not good practice to edit opml files when LMS is running.
If you are editing it make sure you are at Home level - on *ALL*
devices - at the very least no Player UI is in the Favorites menu. 

Opml files are not part of the scanning process and the database - they
are part of menus.  For plugins opml files are re-read when the top
level menu is "entered" so in the case of Favorites - from Home into
Favorites.  

When favorites.opml is being edited - the new version is kept in a temp
file until end of editing. At end of editing, favorites.opml file is
renamed to backup and if that works ok, then temp file is renamed to
favorites.opml.
